Amanda has more than 17 years of experience with storytelling, narration and audiobook production, as well as character voices for stories and dialogues. She's also a writer and author and has been publishing books, poems and stories since she was a teenager. In the last 10 years, she's been narrating classics and contemporary books for all ages and tastes: tales, storytelling, bedtime stories, education, romance, sci-fi, non-fiction, fiction, historical, biographies & drama.
Storytelling and character development are her specialties, so the audience can expect roles that sound real and with a full spectrum of emotions, timbres, moods, tones and particularities, both in American English and Brazilian Portuguese.
When it comes to narrating, it is not so important to tell about her most common roles as it is to tell about how clients benefit from her voice of God (or voice of Goddess) and her ability to tell a story in a unique, memorable way. She enriches the words and phrases with her acting, musical and creative skills when she performs impersonations, characters, ages, extreme emotions, novel timbres and specific vocal attributes.
Narration and Character development are the areas in which she explores her creativity the most by embodying real-world experiences that are not that easy to visit by thought.
It's true that clients sometimes ask her to speak in her own style, and with her very characteristic way of speaking; however, her voice is not constrained by vices, rigidity, common places or limitations. It's that she has her own charismatic style of delivery but she's also free to modulate her speech in a way that people don't even recognize as being Amanda.
Amanda's studio and narration techniques are trusted by Brazilian, European, American and Asian agencies, audiobook producers and podcast studios for both classic, old-fashioned and new, original, contemporary shows and books to be streamed on Spotify, Audible and other platforms.
Small businesses, authors and entrepreneurs also trust her studio to produce audiobooks and in-app stories to be sold directly to listeners.
I record in a treated, isolated vocal booth on a Neumann TLM 103 condenser microphone and a Focusrite Scarlet interface. I can use ProTools or Adobe Audition CC.
My audio has been approved by ACX / Audible and has been requested by multiple audiobook producers and studios on all continents.
My studio is silent and acoustically treated, and provides crispy, full sound (more info on my voice over recording studio).
I comply with audiobook production guidelines regarding SNR, clean recordings (breaths, clicks and noises), clear and steady pronunciation and consistent volume and tone throughout hours of audio recording. You can listen to a raw, dry sample here:
Do you have more questions? It's easy: ask Amanda or find your question on the FAQ's page.
I say that I develop characters, yes, and that's because that's what I do technically. However, in fact, what I am doing all the time is tapping into a deep state of sensibility so I can access real peoples' stories, memories, hopes and emotions. Stories in a voice that's not listened from outside, but comes from within everyone. Yes, I look for that people, that voice and that story that's already inside.
In order to keep the listener immersed in a game, a story or a reality, I employ a variety of multi-disciplinary skills and techniques of sinesthesic narration and characters’ development to bring real-world, skin-to-skin, flawless experiences, and also to bring the novelty, the unexpectable, what has never been seen and heard before.
What's most expected from a voice actress for a documentary or audiobook narration recording is:
the ability to work along with creative directors, audio producers, studio owners and the team involved while receiving multiple inputs and adjusting the read fast, in real-time;
vocal flexibility and creativity to implement quickly and accurately what the director is asking;
steadiness & voice consistency in terms of volume, pronunciation, articulation, and projection, while still being pleasant and comfortable to listen to;
and invisible acting - nothing can sound fake in voice-over, especially in dubbing (unless sounding fake is the instruction!)
Amanda's studio also offers 24/7:
A male voice (young adult, adult, mid-age, characters and original voice)
Children's voices (boys, 4 to 10 years old, with the ability to perform characters and original voices)
Amanda's vocal range and creativity allow a variety of real and unique roles and characters. She developed characters such as:
She performs intrinsically the following accents and dialects:
Accents: American, Russian, European and Brazilian
Brazilian native dialects: neutral, paulista, carioca, mineiro and catarinense (manezinho). She's speaking both carioca and paulista accents since she was a kid and she incorporated other accents because she used to live in those geographical regions.
She can also create unique characters with new, exclusive linguistic and para-linguistic traits.
Besides having those characteristics, Amanda also:
records remotely from her fully equipped home studio, both offline (with multiple takes for the producers to pick) and online (in a remote-directed session through Source Connect, for example);
records lip-sync on-site or in another preferred studio in Brazil;
deliver synchronized, ready-to-be-embed audio files, with expressivity and range, which is crucial for entertainment;
translates or has a professional to adapt scripts to make them sound even more natural, compelling, organic, native or "speakable" within mouth movement timeframes and the character's personality;
produces ADR and Dubbing projects from the original version (script preparation and translation) all the way to casting, directing, recording, curating, mixing dialogues and mastering the final episode;
is a latina Voice Casting Director and she can select the perfect Brazilian voices for your project. She has Brazilian, European and regional Portuguese male and female additional voices among a selected group of seasoned or freelance voice over actors, actresses and voice talents. Fell free to mention the diversity and level of accessibility you want, along with which gender, voice type, accent, age and tone you are looking for your targeted region or audience.
If you need a male, a kid and/or another female voice, feel free to ask. Amanda and her studio are partners of other artists, studios, and creative professionals in the US, Europe and Asia.
She's picky and exigent when it comes to casting as much as she values variety and contrast when receiving auditions and directing voice actors. Ready to start? Need something else?
